99Designs.Com Review

Brainstorming for 99designs took place in 2008 when founder Mark Harbottle along with colleagues Paul Annesley and Lachlan Donald apparently locked themselves in an office and pioneered what’s been referenced to as the newest type of graphic design marketplace. Additional company start-up investors included entrepreneur Leni Mayo, Andre Walsh, and co-founders of the popular online media publishing company “Site Point” Matt and Mark Mickiewicz.

Popularity and success for the website rapidly grew and by 2010, 99design had existing offices in San Francisco, but would also go on to win the Webby People’s Voice Award for the Best Web Application and Services. With a $35 Million Series-A-investment for global expansion assistance through Accel Partners and Angel Investors Michael Dearing, Anthony Casalena, Dave Goldberg and Stewart Butterfield, the future for 99design was so bright you’d have to wear shades. The names mentioned above have led investments for many well-known online companies such as eBay, Survey Monkey, Flickr and Squarespace, and they know success when they see it coming.

By August of 2012, 99designs purchased European creative service marketplace 12designer going on to launch service versions in French, Italian, Spanish, German and Dutch. There are few people or businesses unfamiliar with 99design. It’s doing great things in a fun way while creating profit for all parties involved.

The Product

Features

99design is currently the largest graphic design marketplace online for connecting customers with talented designers and vice versa, designers with customer needing quality, uniqueness, and affordable priced services. It’s currently home to many of the world’s best talent in this area.

The 99design contest allows designers to compete with others in response to customers’ requirements through design briefs, and the customer selected winner receives a cash payment. To date, 99design has paid $63, 125, 890 to contests winners within their design community and the website has hosted over 255, 392 design contests for companies and individuals. They also host a Readymade logo store for selling of logos created by designers that are ready for use. In addition to the services offered, they help designers manage online work through what’s known as their 1-to-1 project platform.

This is definitely one of those unique web services, which is absolutely what makes its successful besides just the large selection of talent found there. Customers would truly find this website worth taking advantage of because rather than hire for a job and not be satisfied with the outcome, they get to see outcomes from many graphic designers already  created according to their briefs and make their selection. Designers get to build their clientele, if a company or individual chooses their designs more than likely they will receive repeat business. The process of launching a contest involves filling out the on-site design brief for signup, including additional contest details and entering payment information.

Target Group

99design’s target groups are a mixture of business owners and customers looking for the best in graphic design, along with talented graphic designers looking to make a name for themselves through showcasing their talents, while profiting from their work. We feel the contest theme for their website really works. Graphic designing is such a competitive field, through this site designers are able to perfect any areas where they may lack.

Those with a serious passion for creativity would appreciate this website for everything it has to offer. Customers would be able to view the top graphic design in a variety of areas from T-Shirts to Web design, and it might be hard to choose a winner. If you’d be willing to mix things up a bit, venture into some new areas, and have fun while learning, you’d fit right in this sites targeted groups. Customer Support

Customer service is an area where some companies fail, but not 99design. They offer an on-site chat form to send questions, along with the companies 800# in case of emergencies. The response time is also wonderful, but with a company like this that’s doing so many things right this is highly expected. 99design goes above and beyond to handle any complaints or problems which may arise.
