CB Passive Income

CB Passive Income is the latest offering from Internet Guru, Patric Chan. Well I don’t know about you, but every time I hear the word “Guru” alarms bells are automatically set off in my head. If you were do a little research on Patric Chan you would discover than his internet marketing journey started back in 2003. Since then he has produced a number of products within the Make Money Online niche, he has co-written and produced a number of “best selling” books, as well as a number of Kindle books available via Amazon. You are also likely to learn that he has now been invited to a total of 11 different countries to speak about Internet Marketing at a variety of conferences.

This all sounds extremely impressive... right?

Well just hold your horses there young trainee Jedi! Okay, firstly, I’m not going to start putting Patric down or claiming that everything that is written or said about him is a complete lie. Let’s face the facts, the guy obviously knows what he’s talking about. However, upon closer inspection I note that Patric is actually “selling the dream” more than anything else. Don’t get me wrong, this is a viable marketing technique, as at the end of the day if a potential buyer doesn’t feel like an Internet marketing product is going to turn them into a millionaire, or if it doesn’t mean they can sit in their PJs all day whilst earning money on autopilot, then they are highly unlikely to want to buy the product.

No, in all seriousness, I have a great deal of respect and admiration for what Patric has achieved over the past decade and more. I have actually read a couple of his Kindle books and found some quite profound and useful information within these guides. However, I always feel that Patric’s style of marketing is specifically aimed at those who actually believe that making money online is very easy. In fact, the way in which he markets CB Passive Income gives the idea of the “push button system”. Remember them? Yup, a whole host of products have been introduced into internet marketing circles claiming that the owner of the product could literally sit on their derriere all day and simply press an automatic ATM button that would release a few hundred dollars whenever they needed it... yeah right.

Look, Patric has all the credentials, know-how, experience and respect from his peers to be everything that is said about him, but when it comes to his CB Passive Income product, I like the concept, but I believe it concentrates too heavily on selling the pipe dream, as opposed to helping people build a real, viable online business (although if you’re willing to dig deep into those pockets of yours then there is a membership section which may help you build that profitable online business). I’m not going to talk about any of Patric’s other products, but will concentrate solely on CB Passive Income for this review.

So What Exactly Is CB Passive Income?

I think the best way to show why this product has become successful is to look at a section of Patric’s sales pitch. According to Patric:

  • You don’t need to write anything or produce any content

  • You don’t need to write sales letters

  • You don’t need to create products

  • You don’t need to send any emails

  • You don’t need to purchase any hosting

  • You don’t need to pay for an auto-responder

  • You don’t need to complete any research

  • You don’t need to offer any customer service

  • You don’t even need to learn anything about Internet Marketing

Alarm Bells! Alarm Bells!

I don’t know about you, but I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry. As you can see from this sales pitch Patric is definitely “selling the dream”. How many times have you heard about something being easy, you not needing to do any work, you not needing to learn anything? How often did you purchase these products? And how much money have you actually made from doing absolutely nothing? I rest my case your honor!

Right, allow me to break this down a little.

Basically for the initial $47 price tag you will receive a whole host of goodies. According to Patric’s sales pitch you will receive:

  • A “secret” fantastic web page that after testing has been proven to convert at 50%

  • A brilliant free offer that will attract your visitors to subscribe

  • Patric’s very own auto-responder/email series will be sent to these subscribers promoting products with your affiliate link

  • Free hosting

  • More free reports and more free emails on a variety of products (I’m guessing Patric’s products or something he is linked to in some way or that he will also receive a commission for selling), all of which contain your affiliate link, so if any sales are made you receive the commission

So this is what the sales pitch says and this is actually what you’ll receive, so in essence this all sounds great. However, I need to break this down even more for you. You are basically receiving a turnkey squeeze page. This is a web page that does nothing more than present your free offer, so people come to the web page, read it, then either leave or give their email address in order to receive the free offer. This is one of the best ways to market offers online, but remember a turnkey website means it isn’t likely to be unique or original and the exact same offer is probably plastered all over the internet (Patric’s other affiliates who have purchased CB Passive Income).

The squeeze page you will receive obviously promotes Patric’s CB Passive Income product. The free product/report will give advice on how to make money online. Once people have signed up via your squeeze page (double opt-in) they will receive their free report. They are then on Patric’s email list. Patric will then send (pre-written) emails promoting his CB Passive Income product however, both the free report and all the links in the emails will contain your Clickbank affiliate link. This means that should anyone purchase the product via the free report or emails then you will receive a commission.

In principle this all sounds fantastic, but in reality you are being asked to do one thing, and one thing alone, get traffic. For the $47 product your only aim is to generate leads by getting traffic to your affiliate squeeze page. Now I don’t wish to be a party pooper, but I would hazard a guess that the hardest thing for any internet marketing newbie, and indeed someone who has worked online for a while, is getting traffic. In fact, I would say that “getting traffic” is one of the biggest stumbling blocks for most people online, and therefore without any experience in this field it is more likely that you won’t get any visitors to “your” squeeze page, thus meaning no-one signs up, no-one receives their free report, no-one gets to read Patric’s professionally structured emails, and no-one buys the product – the long and short of it is you don’t receive any commission.

I would also like to add that although having a professionally crafted squeeze page, free report and emails sounds fantastic, but what does this actually mean. To me it means,

  • You have absolutely no control over what the squeeze page looks like and what is being sold to “your” customers.

  • You have absolutely no statistics to work with, e.g. how much traffic you’re receiving, how many people have downloaded the free report, how many people are reading the emails, whether anyone has actually purchased the product recommended.

  • For your $47 you are completely at the mercy of Patric Chan, he controls you and controls what you sell.

  •

CB Passive Income Upsells

Pro Version

Okay, you may notice that CB Passive Income offers a number of upsells. The next product available for $97 is known as the “Pro Version” and will actually add any visitors who subscribe to two email lists, firstly to Patric’s list and then to your own personal and unique list. So, now we’re getting somewhere. Basically this means that you now have the opportunity to market any product you wish to this list of email subscribers (although I suggest that the products should be in the IM niche, as this is what these people are specifically interested in).

With that being said, if you are looking to market IM products to these people on a separate basis you will need to pay for an auto-responder, let’s call that $20 a month, you will need to pay for a domain name for each and every squeeze page you produce, let’s call that $10 each (you could of course use sub-domains to save a little money here), and you will need to pay for webhosting for your first squeeze page and each subsequent page thereafter, let’s call that $10 a month, plus with some hosting providers you may need to pay an additional amount for every squeeze page you choose to host. I would also suggest that if writing isn’t your forte then you will want to hire someone to write an enticing squeeze page, maybe even write and produce your own free report, and create a series of emails to sell a particular product, let’s say that this could cost anywhere from $100-$300, depending on how professionally you would like this to all be.

You could, of course, write everything yourself, but then you have to figure in the amount of time this will take you, prior to even having anything online for your potential customers to look at. Even once this is all done you still have the unenviable task of GETTING TRAFFIC!

Fast Cash Series Membership

Finally you have the “Fast Cash Series Membership” which can either be purchased for $47 per month or $197 per year. Your membership basically provides access to a training area, which contains numerous videos and training materials to help you with the overall process. So here you can learn about how to create squeeze pages, how to create free reports, how to create and write emails that sell, and of course you will be taught how to get traffic. A quick glance revealed the traffic methods taught, these include YouTube marketing, Social Media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, press releases, solo ads, forum marketing, Stumbleupon, etc.

If I’m honest this is pretty much the standard type of material you can find online about getting traffic. Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of useful material within the member’s area, including email templates you can use for yourself, banners for advertising and some great training videos, but none of it really blew me away, especially when you consider the monthly or annual cost.

The Positives

With all of this being said, if we were to look at the flipside, you can actually draw a lot of positives. When you first get started online there is a lot to learn, in fact there is a huge amount to learn. By taking away every single aspect of internet marketing away from a potential entrepreneur, except for getting traffic, there is really only one thing to concentrate on. Additionally, everything in the $47 product is branded under the Patric Chan name. Therefore a well-known and respected internet marketer will be seen by your potential customers, rather than the face and words of someone they have never heard of. So, in essence you get to use the Patric Chan brand and you are simply required to get traffic and generate leads to his offer.

Conclusion

Look I even know myself that I may have been a little harsh in my review of CB Passive Income. Even I know that there is an opportunity to earn money with this product. I am even aware that there is a great deal of training materials available should people wish to purchase the Fast Cash Series Membership, which in turn can help you build a stable and successful online business. So, it’s not all doom and gloom. I think, in reality, I am unnerved by the very way in which CB Passive Income is being marketed. I’m not saying that Patric is doing anything wrong, but I fear the type of person who will be attracted to this product may essentially not have what it takes to become successful online.

This isn’t a simple push-button system where everything is done for you. Granted, the vast majority of internet marketing tasks are being taken care of for you, but as an online entrepreneur and a business person you should want to know how to do these things. Admittedly, the vast majority of successful IMers don’t complete most of these tasks, they typically outsource them to someone else, BUT they still have a damn good idea whether something is being done correctly or incorrectly, whether it’s being done well or badly. Plus they also have complete control over their statistics and know what each and every potential customer is doing or not doing.

I will say that if you have the patience to learn how to get traffic, or indeed if this is something that you are already quite good at, then by all means purchase CB Passive Income and see what you can do with it. But as I have mentioned, getting traffic is often the biggest stumbling block that most internet marketers face, in fact many have simply given up on the dream because they are unable to get traffic to their offers, websites or squeeze pages.

So, the product in itself is fairly decent, just don’t be sold on the dream of having to do nothing. Look if you could earn vast amounts of money online easily and without doing very much then we’d all be doing it. Just be aware that it does take hard work and there is a learning curve, even with something that comes across as “easy” as CB Passive Income. Pretty much every other CB Passive Income review you will find online is positive and talks about what a great product this is and how all the hard work is being taken away from you... just remember for many getting traffic is the hardest thing they have ever had to do!
